چکیده

A lycopsid reproductive organ from the Koipato Group in southern Humboldt Range, Nevada, is described. It was found fine-grained volcanogenic turbitides of mid-Spathian age derived volcanic arc. The strobilus preserved as an imprint with small amounts organic material. shape organ, well sporophylls, resemble those genus Pleuromeia, especially Pleuromeia sternbergii. Immature spores extracted matter are partly covered by authigenic muscovite crystals. This first record this iconic taxon Early Triassic North America. further strengthens global distribution during filling up a major paleogeographic gap.

Early Triassic Microbial Spheroids in the Virgin Limestone Member of the Moenkopi Formation, Nevada, Usa

Lower Triassic carbonate sedimentary rocks exhibit fabrics and facies indicative of reduced bioturbation and reduced abundance of skeletal animals and algae relative to their Permian counterparts. Widespread microbial mounds are one widely cited example. Micritic spheroids of probable microbial origin occur at a few horizons in the Spathian (uppermost Lower Triassic) Virgin Limestone Member of ...

A new Lower Triassic ichthyopterygian assemblage from Fossil Hill, Nevada.

We report a new ichthyopterygian assemblage from Lower Triassic horizons of the Prida Formation at Fossil Hill in central Nevada. Although fragmentary, the specimens collected so far document a diverse fauna. One partial jaw exhibits isodont dentition with blunt tipped, mesiodistally compressed crowns and striated enamel. These features are shared with the Early Triassic genus Utatsusaurus know...

Preservation of early and Middle Cambrian soft-bodied arthropods from the Pioche Shale, Nevada, USA

a r t i c l e i n f o The Early–Middle Cambrian Pioche Shale of Lincoln County, Nevada preserves a diverse array of soft-bodied ecdysozoans that are well-known from the Burgess Shale soft-bodied fauna of British Columbia, Canada. At Pioche certain genera occur both above and below the Middle Cambrian boundary, allowing a comparison of the nature of their preservation across this interval. In or...

Smithian (early Triassic) Ammonoid Biostratigraphy at Crittenden Springs, Elko County, Nevada and a New Ammonoid from the Meekoceras Gracilitatis Zone

Crittenden Springs in northeastern Nevada yields M. gracilitatis Zone ammonoids renowned for the finely detailed, exquisite preservation of the test, which sometimes even displays relict color patterns. Evidence reveals most of the fossiliferous Lower Triassic beds in the Crittenden Springs area are overturned and this conclusion places the Meekoceras gracilitatis Zone portion of the section an...

Triassic Lithostratigraphy and Biostratigraphy North of Currie, Elko County, Nevada

The Triassic section north of Currie in southern Elko County, Nevada, is almost 500 m thick and is assigned to the Thaynes Group and overlying Shinarump Formation of the Chinle Group. The Thaynes Group disconformably overlies the Permian Gerster Formation and is mostly calcareous shale with interbedded wackestones that yield marine invertebrate fossils, especially ammonoids. The Shinarump Forma...
